It is a 8 Days and 7 Nights Trek starting from Gangotri to Gangotri.
The Gaumukh Tapovan trek is famous for its spiritual significance as the source of the Ganges River, stunning Himalayan scenery, adventure opportunities, biodiversity, and cultural experiences.
You can keep extra luggage in the base village for any particular trek. There are no cloak roo charges applicable. Its free of cost.
If you are going on a trek don’t expect mobile signals. There are few spots on the trails of few treks where you might find a single tower or something but it always depends if that is enough to make a call or not.
We use portable toilet tents for sanitation needs, as permanent structures may not available. These are dry toilets, so please bring wet wipes or tissue paper for personal hygiene.
For this trek you just need a day bag to carry during the trek, extra luggage can be left behind at the camp site. Proper bedded swiss tents are available on this trek.
Start running/walking at least 3-4 Kms everyday.
If it’s a snow trek a good trekking shoe is mandatory. If you buy a new shoe do walk for few days so that it fits you well and doesn’t leave you with blisters while you trek. If it is a summer trek or post monsoon trek a shoe with good grip and ankle support will do
It’s a strict no. If you fall sick during the trek due to alcohol consumption H2H has the right to cancel your trek and send you back to base village. No expenses shall be refunded in that case and you will have to pay additional for stay at base village.

The scenic drive passes through beautiful hill towns like Uttarkashi and lush valleys. You'll drive along the Bhagirathi River, experiencing picturesque landscapes.
A sacred town on the banks of the Bhagirathi River, it's the starting point of the Ganga River and holds great significance in Hindu mythology. The Gangotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Ganga, is a major spiritual site.

The trail starts with a gentle ascent along the Bhagirathi River, passing through pine forests.
Spectacular views of Mt. Sudarshan, the Bhagirathi peaks, and glimpses of snow-capped mountains.
Campsite at Chirbasa, which is surrounded by forests and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

The trail becomes rockier and more barren as you approach Bhojwasa.
You’ll start to feel the raw beauty of the terrain, with a more open landscape and fewer trees. The Bhagirathi River remains your companion, and the views of the Bhagirathi Peaks become even more impressive.
Campsite at Bhojwasa. This is the last place with accommodation and a great place for stargazing.
Tapovan - 4,450 m / 14,600 ft.

You’ll retrace your steps down from Tapovan, enjoying the views again while passing through Gaumukh. The descent is easier but still demands attention due to the rocky and uneven terrain.

Gangotri - 3,100 m / 10,200 ft.
14 km (6-7 hours).
The final leg of the trek is a long descent, following the Bhagirathi River. You'll walk back through Chirbasa, enjoying the pine forests before reaching Gangotri.
Gangotri. This will be your last night in this sacred town before heading back.
250 km (8-9 hours).
After morning tea, start your drive towards Dehradun, retracing your journey through the beautiful Uttarakhand hills.
Reach Dehradun by 5-6 pm.

1. Diamox (1 Strip): An essential part of Live Saving Drugs, Diamox helps reduce the chances of Acute Mountain Sickness on the trek.
2. Dolo 650 (5 tablets): A paracetamol that tackles fever and mild pain.
3. Avomine (4 tablets): If you are prone to motion sickness, carry Avomine. Take one-half hour before the start of your road journey.
4. Combiflam (5 tablets): Useful for sudden twists or muscle strains. Combiflam is a pain reliever containing paracetamol.
5. Digene (4 tablets): Take it if you feel the food, you’ve consumed is undigested. Alert your trek leader immediately, as it could be a sign of AMS.
6. ORS (6 packs): Consume an ORS pack at least once a day, usually mid-day during your trek. It replenishes essential salts lost while trekking. Tip: It also makes cold water easier to drink.
7. Knee Brace (optional): Carry this if you are prone to knee injury or have known issues of knee pain.
